About Us
Background
We are David and Steve McLintock, owners of Summeraway - based in Glasgow, Scotland and Orlando, Florida. We have been frequent visitors to the United States during the last 20 years, initially staying at various types of accommodations and buying our own villa in Florida in 2003, which we continue to rent out when not being used by the family.
With the success of our own vacation rental business we are constantly being asked to recommend other owners when our own villa is not available. With David's experience and contacts in the vacation sector and Steve’s technological skills it was a natural move to form Summeraway and turn our passions into a business. Summeraway will provide our clients with a first class experience whether they are existing villa owners or looking to rent a villa for their own vacation. Having researched the market we believe that Summeraway can provide a professional, high quality service at a very competitive cost for the villa owner. So www.summeraway.com was born and launched in June 2009.
Founders
Following a successful career in the financial sector David now operates on a self employed basis as a consultant to the legal sector. David has travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe in both a business and personal capacity. In addition to various financial qualifications David graduated with an MBA from Strathclyde University in 1991.
Steve graduated in 2006 with a degree in Internet Software Development and is currently employed as a web developer with a Government related body based in the environmental sector. He has undertaken a number of private consultancy projects involving internet sites and is an avid user of technology and the world wide web. Steve also has a passion for travelling and recently travelled across the United States on vacation.
Business Model
The business model is simple; Summeraway will provide villa owners with the ability to generate their own bookings by advertising their properties on the internet, whilst renters will always receive our service free of charge and will deal direct with the villa owners. Added value income will be generated through third party advertisers marketing relevant vacation related products through www.summeraway.com.
