4 Fantastic and Quirky Festivals in Florida

1. The Kumquat Festival

Usually held in mid January in Dade City, goers of the Kumquat Festival celebrate this little orange fruit with a farmers market, car rally and a competitive cook-off! Pickyourown.org provide information on fruit and vegetable festivals in Florida.

2. Edison Festival of Light

Naturally, the event celebrates the magnificent inventor, Thomas Edison. The celebration of light lasts for 3 weeks, from January 30th until February 20th. The festival features crafts, a 5km race and a grand parade with a currently unannounced marshall (all secrets should be revealed soon!). Book your tickets at Edison Festival of Light.

3. The Rattlesnake Festival

In 2010, the reptiles will be celebrated on the 16th and 17th of October in San Antonio. As well as snake shows, there is the much anticipated Gopher racing and live entertainment. The Official Rattlesnake Festival website holds all the information you'll need.

4. Hoggetowne Medieval Faire

Ye olde Gainesville is to be invaded by warriors from the Middle Ages on 30th January 2010. The onslaught is expected to be held over two weekends, beginning 30th January and 5th February. Expect many excellent re-enactments and performances, plus the array of excellent costumes and craft work on display will keep your attention for hours.
